Scheduling Advisor
The Scheduling Advisor displays a list of scheduling related items that provide an overview of how things stand and point out potential problem spots (listed in red.) Each item shows the number of jobs that meet the listed situation and provides a 'Details' button that can be used to display information about the jobs in question in addition to granting access to selective rescheduling options and the ability to lock any of the jobs listed.

Scheduling Advisor Action Buttons
Refresh (button)
Click this button to update the Advisor screen with information from jobs that have been added, edited, or worked on since the utility was opened.
OK (button)
Click this button to close the Advisor and return to the Whiteboard.
Information Displayed
The Scheduling Advisor is broken down by the following areas and displays information for the listed items.
Order Entry
- Open Jobs
- Locked Jobs
- Jobs That Are At Rework
- Jobs With At Least One Piece Ready To Ship
Raw Materials
- Jobs Waiting For Raw Material At Current Routing Step Of A Job
- Jobs With Open Raw Material PO's
- Jobs With Open Raw Material PO's That Are Past Their Due Date
Schedule
- Jobs Already Past Their Due Date
- Jobs Scheduled To Become Past Due
- Jobs Made Past Due Since Last 'Save Settings'
- Jobs With Routing Steps That Have Missed Their Scheduled Start Date
Outside Service
- Jobs Ready To Go To Outside Service
- Jobs Currently At An Outside Service
- Jobs With Open Outside Service PO's That Are Past Due
Shop Floor Labor
- Jobs Logged Into Right Now
- Jobs With Actual Hours Exceeding Their Estimated Hours
Job Requirements
- Jobs With Job Requirements That Could Be Filled From Inventory Now
- Jobs That Should Have Had Purchase Orders Cut By Now
- Jobs With Job Requirements That Could Be Filled From Stock PO Now
Information displayed in red indicates a value that warrants special attention and could represent a potential problem.
Scheduling Advisor Details
Regardless the item selected, clicking the 'Details' button opens the Advisor Detail screen that has the following options.
OK (button)
Click this button to close the Advisor Details and return to the Scheduling Advisor screen.
Scheduling Advisor Details Grid
Scheduling Advisor Details Grid Action Buttons
Use the options below to select and work with records in the detail grid.
Records must be selected in order to be split, locked, or rescheduled.
Select All (button)
Click this button to place a check in the 'Select' box for every job listed in the detail grid.
Deselect All (button)
Click this button to remove the check from every 'Select' box that is currently present in the detail grid.
Split Job (button)
Click this button to open the Split Job utility.
- This option creates a new job by "splitting" an existing one at a step and for a quantity designated in the utility.
- If more than one job is selected, the utility assumes the last one selected is the one to be split.
Lock Selected Jobs (button)
Click this button to place a check in the 'Locked' box for every job selected in the detail grid.
- Jobs that are locked will not be affected by the Global Reschedule utility or the 'Schedule Selected' option found here.
- Sub-assembly jobs cannot be locked.
Unlock Selected Jobs (button)
Click this button to remove the check from every 'Locked' box that is selected in the detail grid.
Locking or unlocking a single step locks / unlocks the entire job.
Schedule Selected (dropdown menu)
These options do not look to the settings in the Global Reschedule utility.
Use this feature to reschedule the jobs marked as 'Selected' in the detail grid. Menu options include:
Sort By (dropdown menu)
Use this feature to determine in what order the jobs are displayed in the detail grid. Menu options include:
- Due Date, Priority
- Priority, Scheduled Begin
- Scheduled Begin, Priority
The system sorts by the value listed first to determine the initial order and uses the second value as the "tie breaker" in situations where the first one is the same on multiple jobs.
Quick View Details (dropdown menu)
Select an option from the menu to see the corresponding Quick View details for the selected job. Quick View options include:
- Job Number
- Customer
- Part Number
- Current Work Center
Select
This check box indicates whether the job is selected for purposes of the Action Buttons above the grid (Split Job, Lock Selected Jobs, Unlock Selected Jobs, Schedule Selected.)
- Jobs can be selected and unselected individually by double clicking the line (to gain focus on the record) and then clicking the 'Selected' box.
Locked
This check box indicates whether the job is locked.
- Jobs can be locked and unlocked individually by double clicking the line (to gain focus on the record) and then clicking the 'Locked' box.
- Locking or unlocking a single step locks / unlocks the entire job.
Job Priority
This field displays the Priority value for each job in the grid.
- Priority cannot be edited here.
Docs
The presence of the "papers" icon indicates one or more files are attached to the job.
- Attached files cannot be viewed here.
Job Req (Job Requirements)
This field indicates whether there are material requirements associated with the job and, if so, there status.
- "Thumbs Up" icon - Indicates all listed material requirements have been filled
- "Thumbs Down" icon - Indicates that some or all of the listed material requirements have not been filled
- No icon - Indicates there are no material requirements associated with the job
Outside service requirements are not considered with regards to this indicator.
Job Late
The presence of the "warning" icon indicates the job is running behind its scheduled dates.
Additional Values
Additional values in the grid include, but are not limited to:
- Job Number
- Part Number and Description
- Customer Code
- Quantity values
- Time values (estimated and actual)
- Due Date
- Dollar value
