Global Reschedule Utility
The Global Schedule Utility provides a way to schedule new jobs and / or reschedule existing ones based on settings within the utility (covered in this topic) and on the work centers used. If you want to automate this feature, see Overnight Schedule.
This topic is designed to open in a new tab so long as your browser allows. If that is the case, simply close this tab when you are ready to continue with your review of the Scheduling Whiteboard topic. If your browser did not open a new tab, you can use the "back" option on your browser or click the link below to return to the Scheduling Whiteboard topic.

Cycle Time Remaining On Active Routing Steps
This setting determines how the system calculates how much cycle time to schedule for steps that have been started but not completed.
Use Estimated Cycle Time Entered On Job's Router
This setting uses the cycle time from the job's router and "pro-rates" it (based on the work already completed) to determine the remaining load.
Calculate New Cycle Time Using Actual Hours Reported
This setting uses the time reported on time tickets for work already done and recalculates the amount of remaining cycle time based on how long it has taken so far.
- It does not matter whether the time ticket was created from a data collection device or entered directly in JobBOSS2.
Jobs To Be Scheduled
This setting determines which jobs are updated and rescheduled when the global Reschedule utility is processed.
Job Number / Specified Job ONLY
When a Job Number is entered in the field provided and this radio button is selected, only the specifically listed job is rescheduled.
Unscheduled Jobs Only
When this radio button is selected, the utility ignores any jobs that are already included on the Whiteboard and only schedules jobs that have been processed but not yet scheduled.
- Newly scheduled jobs are added to the Whiteboard around the ones that are already present since their Start and End Dates are not recalculated.
- This setting would be used when the option to 'Update Schedule In "Real Time"' is not selected (located in the Whiteboard Settings.)
All Open Job Numbers
When this radio button is selected, the utility will schedule / reschedule all open, unlocked jobs, even if they are already included in the Whiteboard. This setting is useful in the following scenarios:
- To review the affect of changes made to capacity assumptions, direction, or loading method
- This is often done in conjunction with the use of the 'Save Settings' and related options.
- To revise scheduled Start and End Dates, especially if there are jobs running late that were supposed to have started at some date in the past
Direction To Schedule Jobs
This setting determines whether jobs will be scheduled using the 'FORWARD' or 'BACKWARD' Loading Method.
- This will override previous assumptions if the option selected is opposite of the one originally used to schedule a job.
Actions To Be Performed By Process Button
This setting works along with the 'Direction' selected to determine what to do with jobs that have already been started and, in the case of backward scheduling, jobs that may be scheduled to begin in the past. The options vary slightly depending on which Direction is selected, but in either case, multiple "Actions" can be selected.
Forward Scheduling Selected
The utility will review and update each job included in the Global Reschedule once for each option selected, so choosing both will cause the utility to make two "passes" through each job.
- FORWARD Schedule All Steps Currently Active In The Shop
When this option is selected the utility will forward schedule all routed steps that have been started but not yet completed (i.e. they are 'active') on the jobs included in the Global Reschedule. If this option is left blank, these active steps will keep their existing scheduled Start and End Dates regardless of any of the selections made in the utility.
- FORWARD Schedule All Open Routing Steps
When this option is selected the utility will forward schedule all routed steps that have not yet been started but are present on jobs included in the Global Reschedule that have had other steps already completed. (For example, Step 10 has been completed but Steps 20 and 30 have not been started.) If this option is left blank, these steps will keep their existing scheduled Start and End Dates regardless of any of the selections made in the utility.
Backward Scheduling Selected
The utility will review and update each job included in the Global Reschedule once for each option selected, so choosing them all will cause the utility to make three "passes" through each job.
- BACKWARD Schedule All Open Routing Steps
When this option is selected the utility will backward schedule all routed steps that have not yet been started but are present on jobs included in the Global Reschedule that have had other steps already completed. (For example, Step 10 has been completed but Steps 20 and 30 have not been started.) If this option is left blank, these steps will keep their existing scheduled Start and End Dates regardless of any of the selections made in the utility.
- FORWARD Schedule Routing Steps That Are In The Past
When this option is selected the utility will forward schedule all routed steps that are currently scheduled to start on a date prior to the current one. If this option is left blank, these steps will remain scheduled to start in the past and will keep their existing scheduled End Dates regardless of any of the selections made in the utility.
