Corrective / Preventive Actions
System Location: Data Entry > Quality > Corrective / Preventive Actions
This document takes you step by step through the use of this application in JobBOSS2. The example scenario uses sample data and portrays a standard use of the application.
About Corrective / Preventive Actions
Users can enter forms for any Corrective Actions / Preventive Actions (CAPAs), steps taken to remove the causes of an existing Non-Conformity or to make quality improvements. CAPAs can be created in response to internal audits or Customer/Vendor Feedback. They can also be tied to Customer or Vendor Returns to provide additional information for the CAPA. There is a corresponding Corrective Action / Preventive Action Summary that recaps any entries made.
Creating a Corrective / Preventive Action
- Go to the blue Data Entry tab, open the Quality dropdown menu, and select Corrective Actions.
- Click New.
General
- Select a CAPA Type from the dropdown menu.
- Customer
- Internal
- Vendor
- Enter a Return Number.
- This is not applicable if the CAPA type is Internal.
- Select the Return Item Number.
- This is not applicable if the CAPA type is Internal.
- Enter a Feedback Number if the CAPA is a result of Customer Feedback.
- Feedback can be created first and used to automatically generate this CAPA, if needed.

- Verify the CAPA Date.
- The current date automatically populates.
- Enter a CAPA Job Number if you have one.
- Leave the Quantity Returned, Quantity to Rework, CAPA Job Number, Part Number, and Part Description blank.
- These fields will populate if the CAPA is directly tied to a Return.
The Additional Corrective / Preventive Action Information is view only.
Investigation
- Select the Investigated By employee who started the investigation into the CAPA from the dropdown menu.
- Enter a Response Due date that represents an approximate time of completion for this CAPA to be put in place.
- Enter a Reported / Potential Problem.
- Enter a Root Cause.
Action
- Select the Implemented By employee who is responsible for the resolution of the investigation.
- Select the Corrective / Preventive Action code.
- These codes are created under Base Tables.
- Select the Implementation Date.
- Enter the Immediate Action information to explain the steps taken to correct the present problem.
- Enter the Permanent Action information to explain the steps being put in place to prevent this issue in the future.
Verification
- Place a check by Corrective / Preventive Action Report completed and signed once the implementation receives final approval.
- Enter a Verification of Implementation to ensure the steps presented in the Action section were followed properly.
- Select a Verification By code for the employee who verified this Corrective / Preventive Action.
- Select a Verification Date.
- Enter the Verification of Effectiveness to explain the outcome of the actions taken.
- Select a Verification of Effectiveness By code for the employee who verified the effectiveness of this Corrective / Preventive Action.
- Select a Close Out Date to complete the Corrective / Preventive Action.
- Click Save to save and exit the screen.
- Use the Save dropdown menu if you want to create a new record or print a report upon saving.
