What Is The Difference Between Transferring Manufactured And Purchased Parts? When parts are posted to a job - regardless of whether they are manufactured pr purchased - their cost is removed from inventory and added to the Destination Job once the transfer is completed. The difference comes when there are open requirements for the transferred items.
Purchased Parts
If job requirements exist for a purchased part that is posted to the Destination Job, the transfer satisfies the requirement.
- If a quantity is transferred that is less than the listed requirement, the unfilled quantity remains an open requirement.
- If a quantity greater than the listed requirement is posted, the entire quantity is satisfied and the extra material is added to the job's costs accordingly.
Manufactured Parts
If a Sub-assembly Job is associated with the Destination Job, the demand for the manufactured (sub-assembly) part cannot be filled with an inventory transfer.
- Any manufactured parts posted to the job will simply be considered as "extras" and the system will still expect the original quantity to be made as scheduled.
- Click OK.
- The utility displays a prompt to determine how much material should be transferred.
- Enter the total quantity (in terms of the part's Stocking Unit) that should be transferred from inventory to the Destination Job.
- Quantities must be entered in whole units.
- If a quantity is entered that is greater than the quantity that is available (listed in 'Qty On Hand' column), the utility will create a requirement for the amount that exceeds what is on hand.
- Inventory will never display a negative value.
- Click OK on the prompt.
- Repeat the process of entering the quantity to transfer as needed.
- The prompt will be provided for each part selected.
- When a quantity has been entered for the last part selected, the user is taken back to the Stock To Job Inventory Transfer Screen.
- Click OK to transfer the selected parts and close the Stock To Job Inventory Transfer Screen.
- Click Close to exit the Inventory Transfer Navigator.
