Create a Collection Terminal

System Location: Settings > Base Tables > Collection Terminals

Collection terminals provide a means of identifying the various devices that can be used to capture time related information from employees on the shop floor for the purpose of creating attendance and / or time tickets.

  1. Click the Settings button.Settings_Button
  2. Open the Base Tables dropdown menu.
  3. Select Collection Terminals.
  4. Click New (located at the top of the page.)

Provide Values

Provide information for the fields listed below at a minimum to take advantage of JobBOSS2's reporting and analysis tools in addition to benefiting from its ability to pass information along from one part of the software to another.

An asterisk [*] indicates a required field.

General Section
  1. Provide information as appropriate:
    • *Terminal Number: Must be unique (Valid entries 64-99)
    • Description: Appears on Collection Terminal Navigator and various reports for reference
    • IP Address & Port Number: Required on Ethernet and Pocket PC Devices
    • Collection Terminal Behavior Settings: Determine the following and configure accordingly
      • Should user be allowed to clock on to closed jobs and / or multiple jobs
      • Will user be prompted for next work center and / or reason code on scrapped parts
      • Should values for work center and operation code in Defaults Section override bar codes on travelers (assuming bar codes are in use)
Defaults Section
  1. Provide information as appropriate:
    • Language: English, French, Spanish
      • Determines the language used for prompts and tabs on data collection device only
    • Work Center: Select from dropdown menu if appropriate
    • Operation Code: Select from dropdown menu if appropriate
    • Employee Code: Select from dropdown menu if appropriate
    • Attendance Code: Select from dropdown menu if appropriate
    • Payroll Rate: Select from dropdown menu
    • Providing a value - including a "zero" - will prevent the system from prompting the user for the listed information as they clock in or out, depending on the setting.

It is common to have default values selected for Operation Code, Attendance Code, and Payroll Rate.

  1. Click 'Save' to save and close the record.
    1. Use the Save dropdown menu if you want to create a new record or print a report upon saving.
